Connecting Our Roots: A Fall Equinox Journey with Yoga Nidra

As the energy and abundance of Summer comes to an end, the Fall Equinox approaches, reminding us to ground, connect, and to root. Days become shorter, nature begins to transition towards hibernation, and we are guided to reflect back on the year. Consider the goals or intentions that you may have set at the beginning of the year, acknowledge all that you have accomplished, then prepare to root down and sustain as we head towards the stillness of Winter.

Daylight diminishes and a chill rides the breeze. It is time to connect our roots. Connect them deep down into the Earth.

Through the practice of Yoga Nidra, we are able to access a special place in the mind where we can see, do, and be anything! A place where our spiritual roots grow deep into the Earth’s soil, grounding us in the mystical forest of discovery, relaxation, and healing.

Yoga Nidra is a special guided meditation practice that is very near and dear to my heart-- it is truly a magical experience! As you lie comfortably in an extended savasana, the Yoga Nidra journey is designed to bring the mind and body to a blissful, meditative state, similar to the one right before you fall asleep. Tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system, Yoga Nidra brews magic from within invoking feelings of relaxation, release, and ease. While the goal is stay awake and aware, it’s okay if one dozes off during the practice, as the subconscious still absorbs all of it’s amazing benefits. As a result, you may find your ability to meditate becomes easier.

The very first time I practiced Yoga Nidra I was amazed; enthralled by the beauty that my mind had created. Instantly, I found answers to questions I didn’t even know I had, including the knowledge that I was meant to study the healing arts of Yoga Nidra and become a Yoga Teacher. It is my absolute pleasure to help spread this practice wide and far so that others can also experience it’s many benefits.
